Getting there

Como is situated conveniently on the country's major railway system. Frequent connections are available from Milan, Stazione Centrale. The trip takes only around 40 minutes. The local railway station is called San Giovanni.

Getting around the city

The area of Lake Como is well serviced by boats, steamers and buses. The resort towns of Lenno, Tremezzo, Villa Carlotta, Cadenabbia, Menaggio, Bellagio and Varenna have regular boat connection, together with a car ferry. Not as regular, yet quicker boat connection is available as well, servicing all the above-mentioned towns. Buses are also available on every hour running from Como to Colico and the northeast.
