One of the most impressive sights in Como is the Duomo. It was constructed over several centuries and similarly to most of the Italian duomos it represents a unique combination of Gothic and Renaissance architectural features. It houses a number of tapestries and paintings. The other cathedral in Como, San Fidele is also a major attraction. It dates back to the 10th century and boasts a tall porch. Among the other sights worth a visit are the Romanesque Church Sant' Abbondio and the local Pinacoteca. Como is connected via a funicular to the nearby hill, which provides a magnificent vista over the over the surrounding area. Sport fans will be delighted to hear that the local football team plays at a high level and its matches are worth a visit as well.
